    orchids
I do not take these photos.  I down load them from the Smithsonian Museum of National History.  I walked into the museum and the sign in front of the display caught my attention:  “Orchids through Darwin’s Eyes.”  There were so many people with fancy cameras, large and long lenses, look like professional photographers in the “orchid shop.”  The lighting was not great.  I truly regret that I did not have enough time to stay longer, that I never set aside a good amount of time to learn how to operate my camera to its full potential, and that I was impatient to really focus on the orchids to enjoy them.  There are hundreds of kinds of orchids and some of them are fragrant.  I do not what name tag belongs to what orchid because they are so close to each other.

I saw this name tag.  I recognize it is a Vietnamese name but do not know whether this is the name of a male or female scientist or botanist or what role the person play in this flower.  Search through the internet I came up with a yellow orchid.

  • I have such fondness for orchids. I associate them with my mom and her orchids. I started buying them but only the cheap kinds of course. Lovely pictures. Wish I could go there too.

  • This guy swamprad  is obsessed with orchids.  I’m going to give him your name, too.  I think he’s an ER doc who lives in the South.  He could probably recognize every one of your orchids.  Personally, I’m not a fan.  They’re too fussy for me I think.

  • you should do a post of hoa su, it’s my favorite flower!! Em khong thich orchids cho may… dunno why =//

  • Hey Ryc: Twilight series was quite dumb. It has been compared to Harry Potter and The Lion Witch and Warlock. But this Meyers who wrote the twilight series is not in that class of writer such as T.S. Elliot or JK Rowling, I love T.S. Elliot and Rowling is a pretty fair writer in my thinking. But the twilight series is poorly written and just dumb.  She won a lot of awards so I thought I would read them just to see.

  • RYC:  It’s a landmine I’m tired of treading on.  Nice to see you on site again.  I would love to see the cherry blossom.  I have seen it partly in Michigan but that is not the same, is it?  Oriental art and Native American art are two of my favorites.  The simplicity.  Exquisite.  My ex-husband used to have a couple of Japanese bamboo wall hangings of cherry blossom.

    These are beautiful!

    HUGS!!!

  • Ryc: Well, your young relative is right I believe they are just dumb. The story is too dumb for words. I liked Harry Potter series. It got a bit tiresome after while but liked the first few books. Judi

  • Above I said T.S Elliot but I meant C.S. Lewis, I did not come back in time to edit it. Judi

  • RYC:  Always! What is a day without learning something and making a new friend.

    HUGS!!!

  • Remind me to start the flower garden in front of the house…..
