August 01, 2008 Happy Birthday!
I could not sleep last night so just as I expected, I was very tired. I was dragging my feet toward my workplace when a young woman tried to pass me. As she was in step with me she spoke as if to herself between her breath and her teeth. “Thanks so much for letting the door slam into my face when I was behind you.” I was not aware of my action. I did not know that I let go of the door when she was behind me. I was like, in a fog. I did not say anything as she walked past me so fast perhaps trying to escape what she thought I was going to say. Perhaps any woman would shout something to her, but I let it roll of my shoulder. No need to escalate my stress level. At work, I got a permit for environmental project but only with a strict condition. My boss asked me to arrange a meeting with the environmental go to guy, hopefully we would be able to mitigate that. I held on to work despite my exhaustion. At lunch, I went for a walk. It was very warm. There was a light breeze and if I walked under the shade, it was bearable. I took my normal route, passing the large empty lot behind the fence, native wild flowers bloomed whitening the large piece of land. These weeds grow strong and fast. I saw the guys mowing up the land, couple days later I saw white flower weeds grow entirely the land. Today I saw some tiny yellow flowers, but the shot was not good.
I passed my favorite place NJPAC. In front of its cafe under the gate there are two large bushes in blooms. I do not know its name but its fragrance is very pretty which attracts so many insects. Nearby some special decorative grass are also in bloom.
On the sidewalk, there are many stands to tell people coming show. I plan to see the Yoruba Art in Newark museum a few blocks over sometimes near the end of the month. The art was mentioned in the book Half of the Yellow Sun. This is a very good book and its Vietnamese version is waiting to come out if the publisher is moving a little faster.
A few busts in Newark Library. Cesar is one of them.Inside Newark Library. Built since the end of 19th century, it is very well kept, with marble columns, marble stairs, wrought iron stair rails, high dom ceiling.
This entry is for you. Happy Birthday to you.
